NBS (National Broadcasting Society) is a professional organization that brings teachers and professionals in electronic media together to help college students interested in working in an electronic media field make their dream come true by offering them a deeper experience than one that they could obtain through only classroom time. The society has been around since 1943, with origins in Missouri. Austin Peay created its own local chapter in 2002.
Our mission statement is to assist the transition from college student to electronic media professional through:
- Advanced media edulcation programs
- Promotion of excellence
- Opportunities for ethical and responsible leadership
- Assistance in career development and job search skills
- Exposure to the electronic media industries and
- Providing opportunities and encouragement to participate in community service activities.
Austin Peay’s chapter participates in several various campus and community events every year, including G.H.O.S.T., triva night, campus bake sales, various trips (this year Dallas, TX), campus sporting events, and various other activities.
NBS at Austin Peay offers hands on experience to students through producing television and radio projects, short to full length films, and much more. You will also be able to submit your work in to nationally ranked festivals.
